The Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and the Olga Iglesias Project Formalize a Collaborative Agreement

Press Release

San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico (CMPR) and the Olga Iglesias Project (OIP) have signed a collaborative agreement that formalizes a relationship four years in the making. Signed by Manuel Calzada, Rector of the CMPR, and Anthony Cheney Guzmán, Founder and Executive Director of OIP, the agreement establishes an institutional framework for the artistic, educational, and curatorial work the two organizations have shared since 2021.

The partnership carries a weight of history. Olga Iglesias was an alumna of the Conservatory and later directed its Voice Department, and the agreement itself recognizes her historic role in the institution's development and commits both parties to preserving and sharing her artistic and academic legacy.

Under the agreement, the CMPR opens two of its most valuable resources to the Project: the Sala Junior Soto, available at no cost once a year for presentations aligned with OIP's mission, and the CMPR Library, for the research and documentation that supports the Project's curatorial and historical work.

OIP, for its part, commits to continue what it has done since its founding: recruiting CMPR students and alumni for its artistic productions with paid professional opportunities, bringing workshops, lectures, and master classes by renowned artists to the Conservatory's student community, and sustaining joint artistic projects that serve both the CMPR community and the general public. Several of the Project's artists in residence are Conservatory graduates.

The agreement takes effect upon signature with an initial one-year term that renews automatically.

"Olga Iglesias studied in these halls and later led its Voice Department. Signing this agreement at the Conservatory feels less like starting something new and more like coming home, with a promise that its students will always have a place on our stages."

Anthony Cheney Guzmán, Founder and Executive Director of OIP
