Tarde de Ópera en Condado: A Free Night of Opera Under the Stars Closes the Olga Iglesias Project's Third Year with the Municipality of San Juan
Press Release
San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Olga Iglesias Project (OIP) and the Municipality of San Juan, through its Department of Art and Culture, invite the public to Tarde de Ópera en Condado — a free evening of opera and song under the open sky. The concert takes place Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Plaza Antonia Quiñones in Condado, across from Parroquia Stella Maris.
The program brings together operatic arias, popular songs, and vocal works spanning a range of styles and eras, performed by tenor Christian García, a San Juan native, and soprano Yaritza Zayas, under the musical direction of pianist Ernesto Busigó. Admission is free; organizers invite attendees to bring beach chairs or blankets and settle in for the evening.
The concert also marks a milestone that has gone largely unannounced until now: it closes a third year of collaboration between OIP and the Municipality of San Juan. Since winning the city's contract, the Project has brought live classical voice to some of the capital's most beloved public spaces — among them the Museo de San Juan in Old San Juan and Casa Ashford in Condado — drawing large audiences to free, open-air performances that place opera squarely in the everyday life of the city.
With this third year now complete, the partnership has been renewed for another series of concerts, continuing a shared commitment to making Puerto Rico's classical music tradition accessible to everyone, at no cost, in the heart of San Juan.
The event was featured by El Adoquín Times.
