Lucila Zavala

Bio:

Twenty Two year old puertorrican soprano, Lucila Valeria Zavala Pérez commenced her musical studies at the Escuela Ernesto Ramos Antonini Libre de Música of San Juan. Here, she was selected as a soprano soloist for Vivaldi’s Gloria, The Disney Music Festival Awards Competition and the Concierto de Reyes with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra conducted by Roselín Pabón.

At only seventeen years old, she was enrolled into the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico where she obtaining her bachelors degree in vocal performance. During this period, under the artistic direction of the late Antonio Barasorda, she was casted as a conversa in Puccini’s Sour Angelica. Throughout the summer of 2019 she was part of the Vozarteum Opera Festival: Bellìssimo Tour between San Diego, California and Baja California, Mexico directed by Laura Rey. Lucila, has been part of various operatic productions such as, I Pagliacci, La Vida Breve, Carmen, CulturArte Concertone V, La Bohème with the Coral Lírica of Puerto Rico and Teatro Lírico D’Europa under the direction of Jo-Ann Herrero.

In the summer of 2021 she was accepted to be part of the prestigious Bologna International Opera Academy in Italy; where she had the pleasure of working with Nicoletta Conti, Stefano Vizzioli, Leone Maggiera, Danielle Orlando and Luis Ledesma. Lucila wins first place in the competitions of the Metropolitan Opera Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition 21-22 district of Puerto Rico, winning first prize awarded by the Angel Ramos Foundation and the Audience favorite Award for Puerto Rico Opera Foundation. She is currently a fellow at the Olga Iglesias Foundation where she works with Ana de Archuleta. Lastly she is preparing alongside professors and coaches, to continue learning and improving in the field of music
